Oliver

Today, I made a very tough decision. Today, I said goodbye. Today, I lost my friend. If you've never met Oliver then you've never seen a real life version of Garfield. He loved to eat. He loved to beg for food. He love to have his chin scratched, his ears itched, and his neck "massaged." He loved to sit on your lap. He loved tuna out of the can. He loved to play with "mice" and straws. He was very lazy. He was scared of going outside but tried to sneak out when he could. He was beautiful and sweet and loved. He developed anxiety following the birth of Evie and hasn't been as happy or healthy since. And so today, I told him I loved him. I told him how lucky I was to have him and I held him one last time. Then I stroked his head as he took his last breath. I miss him.

Tawnda,

We were surprised when we read that you said goodbye to Oliver.

We were both crying when I read your post to Verlynn.

Losing a pet is like losing a member of the family.

Sending you love and (((((hugs)))).
Love,
Lyn & Verlynn

I still remember the day you got Oliver in GR! We had to keep him in my parents' garage because Dad is allergic!

Thinking of you and am glad that you could say good-bye to your wonderful friend.

Hope to see you during the 4th!

love, sara

When you called me at work to tell me about Oliver, I was trying to hide at work because I was crying, as I am now. I put off reading your blog about Oliver because even Dad said it was a tearjerker.

Oliver always seemed to love when we said his name in that drawn-out fashion--Alllll i verrrrrr, and he would meow back at us.

Remember when you first brought him home and he tried to climb inside the printer when it was spitting out paper--he was so tiny then. (Who knew such as tiny kitten would grow up to be such a chubby cat.)

Remember how he got the Kleenex box stuck on his head because he wanted to see what was inside. We have some really cute pictures of him doing silly things like that.

He really was a great friend for you to come home to when you were on your own, even though he had some bad habits.

As Vel once told me, "All we can do is love them (our beloved pets) while we have the chance."

Love,

Mom
